100 Word Review - #E3 - Everyday Shooter

Help! I'm being attacked by a horde of crazed Legos!
Everyday Shooter

I am a rock man - a good guitar riff can really make my day. And when a capable shoot 'em up merges with some amazing riffs, the result can only be an enthralling experience. Play a level and shoot everything that moves. Try to find the exotic combo patterns and, most importantly, try to survive to the end of the music to reach the next level. It's an original take on a classic genre, with a handful of twists that make this shooter quite an experience. It is the father of today's shooters such as Beat Hazard and Audiosurf.

100 Word Review - #24 - Scoregasm

Normal, Hard or Insane? Insane please...

“Scoregasm” is one of the many games I’ve got for next to nothing in an indie bundle that I expected to be crap but is actually quite fun. I’ve proclaimed my love for twin-stick shooters before, and this is another fine example of one, even if it is not as polished or deep as “Beat Hazard”. There is some depth here, as you have to replay a few times to unlock the different difficulties and stages you are rewarded for playing well with challenge levels. The game itself isn’t too hard, but there are a few excruciatingly difficult moments present.

100 Word Review - #16 - Beat Hazard

Standard twin-stick tactics - spin like a lunatic!

I do love me some twin-stick shooters and ‘Beat Hazard’ is a great example of one. You are a spaceship that must have royally pissed someone off, as everyone else seems to want to destroy you and do a good job of it, as the game is quite difficult, at least until you get used to it. The whole game is set to music from you library, or internet radio and everything that happens, from the number of enemies on screen to various effects is dependent on the music. Whether played single or multiplayer, this is quite an addictive game.

My Score - 7/10
