100 Word Review - #23 - Fractal: Make Blooms Not War

Pretty
Fractal: Make Blooms Not War

Genre - Casual, Indie

Metascore - 84% (iOS)

Developer - Cipher Prime Studios

My Current Playtime - 1.1 hours

There is a plethora of block puzzle games to choose from and they can get all get a bit samey. “Fractal” puts a new spin on the genre in which you have to push blocks from different directions to make little flower shapes. You only have a certain number of pushes in which to make a certain number of ‘blooms’ and it becomes more about resource management than just franticly clicking to try and complete a level, especially in the puzzle mode. “Fractal” is a pretty game that is very challenging, with more to think about than “Bejeweled” and others.

My Score - 7/10

100 Word Review - #14 - Lucid

This is how you clear the blocks

Genre - Indie, Casual

Metascore - N/A

You’d be forgiven for thinking that this is just another one of the multiple ‘Bejeweled’ clones, because for the most part, it is. The real draw of this game is the twist it puts on this gem-clearing format – you have to clear all same-coloured touching blocks at once. You do this by dragging a line through the blocks visiting each one once. If you can’t get them all in one go, you can’t clear them. ‘Lucid’ has the same addictive gameplay as its sister games - I couldn’t drag myself away to write this until I had failed a stage.

My Score - 6/10
