100 Word Review - #M3 - Star Wars: Dark Forces

It's like a hidden-object game all over again.

The nostalgia, the whimsy, the Nintendo-hard difficulty – we all love retro gaming, but probably only console platformers. Dark Forces hasn’t aged well at all. Essentially a key-hunt, the gameplay depends on you exploring every level completely, but the textures are so repetitive you often can’t see corners along walls. It’s like running through a tedious optical illusion. Supposedly the first FPS to let you look up/down, it’s clumsily implemented through pageup/down. Luckily the glass-like enemies fall as soon as you look at them so you have plenty of time to dance the robot. Pushing boundaries then, but just painful now.

ZOMBIES! Like the rest of the world I too have been conned into liking them for no particular reason, and what better way to live out the fantasy than in a game? 'Dead Island' isn’t the first of its kind but it successfully mashes two enjoyable games into one, taking the tense atmosphere of 'Left 4 Dead' and the free-roam/weapon modding of 'Dead Rising'. Sure, it’s occasionally glitchy and the voice acting is terrible, but it doesn’t matter when a game is this fun. Adding an expansive number of missions, you’ll be playing for longer than you’d like to admit.

100 Word Review - #M1 - Amazing Adventures Around the World

Now where did I put my lion's head?

Have you ever looked at an unsorted mess knowing that you had to find one tiny object in it? Have you ever wanted that feeling of frustration captured in a game? No? Tough. “Amazing Adventures Around the World” provides you with a selection of scenery filled with objects that aren’t so much hidden as simply overwhelming, before asking you to find 10 specific items. It might not sound exciting, and that’s because it’s not. It is, however, a perfect time waster for people that don’t require fun in their games. Oh, and one more thing... this is actually a sequel.
